SAXOPHONIST JOE GOLDBERG with Adam Kornecki on keyboard, Thomas Milovac on bass.
Music has been a part of Joe Goldberg’s life since the beginning. Growing up in a musical household enamored with blues and swing, some of Joe’s first memories are of his mother singing jazz standards while his father accompanied on guitar. It was out of these memories that his interest in the art form would emerge and his journey would find its beginning.
After playing and performing with the concert jazz band throughout high school, Joe went on to attend Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. While pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in music, Joe explored his passion for science and math, earning minors in both physics and mathematics. It was also here that he would meet his eventual mentor, renowned pianist Marcus Roberts. While studying under Roberts, Joe sharpened his skills on the alto saxophone while adding clarinet to his repertoire.
In 2012, after performing the music of Jelly Roll Morton with Roberts at the Lincoln Center in New York, Joe became a full-time member of Roberts’ group, The Modern Jazz Generation. Joe has performed with the group both live and on record, including the critically acclaimed 2013 album Romance, Swing, and the Blues.
From 2013-2020 Joe resided in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he had the chance to learn from and work with some of the best musicians in the city such as, Jason Marsalis, Wess “Warm Daddy” Anderson, Shannon Powell, Herlin Riley, Topsy Chapman, Lars Edegrin, Steve Pistorious.
Joe regularly performs with his quartet and with his 7 piece swing band, Joe Goldberg and the Function.
ADAM KORNECKI was mentored on the piano by many gifted teachers, including Lester Taylor and Harold Blanchard. He attended Florida State University on a music scholarship and graduated with a BA in 2012. The following 3 years he worked as an orchestra musician and sideman on cruise ships. In 2018 he received a teaching assistantship and finished his MA in music in 2020. He has performed with a variety jazz and blues artists, among other Ray Brown jr., Leon Anderson , Joe “Survival” Caruso – just to name a few. He lives in Daytona Beach FL and performs with his own groups.
THOMAS MILOVAC Thomas Milovac is a bassist, composer/improviser, and artist based out of Orlando, Florida. He has performed throughout the United States appearing with artists such as Ulysses Owens Jr., Wayne Escoffery, Ryan Devlin, Adam Nussbaum, Steve Cohn, Rashid Williams’s LFJ Orchestra, Alex Han, John Lumpkin, Zoh Amba, Dominick Farinacci, Steve Swell, Elizabeth A. Baker, Sean Hamilton, Majid Araim, Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, Renee Baker, and Jonas Van den Bossche.
Thomas is also a member of the "pan-Florida improvisation syndicate" BONGUS, jazz rock group Creek, and the Jacksonville based ensemble Madre Vaca. He also leads his own ensembles performing his original works. These projects includes the Thomas Milovac Sextet and Trio, Large Ensemble, and the bass and drum duo, The Improjectionists.
In 2021, Thomas started his record label, Cosmo Sonic Collective, focused on releasing improvised music. Thomas released his debut studio album “Sun Ray” in February of 2022.

Since attendance is lower during the summer months, we are taking a "summer break". Other Florida jazz societies do the same and do not have performances year round. This will also enable us put more finances toward outstanding musicians and bands!
